Entering the world of the Blacksmith
For two days this week I took Blacksmithing 101 at www.whitehartforge.com with Dan Klug, Blacksmith at his forge in Oregon.
I had wanted to learn how to blacksmith for years....but never was able to dive right in due to fears, opportunities and timing. I reached a point recently in my work where I felt I had reached the end of a road I had been traveling on, quite safely for a long time----it was time to leap and the time was NOW!
I was repeating myself in my work....locked into a way of working that I was becoming bored with. I needed to be able to work with hot metal and creat work that has a deeper, more alchemical energy to it.
I knew that working the forge and connecting with that process would also get me deeper into my own power and creativity; the beginning of a new phase of my work, my self, my spirit.
I am humbled by the craft---and looking forward to honing my skills.
B.
P.S. I also want to say what and incredible teacher Dan is....so very patient, encouraging and fun....if you want to be challenged, learn a ton and go home and start your own gig, take a class!

Shows
The Ungarden Show was a success! Thanks to everyone who supported me and purchased jewelry and Art pieces----especially the assemblage art that is so dear to my heart. I loved the great conversations I had with folks about everything from the energetic feel of copper to the story of Mary Magdalene and why she's pictured with a skull. Do you know? It's such a great story.
I'm in the process this week of apply for more shows: Irvington Artisan Market, Alberta Art Hop, Portland Pride Festival, Silverton Arts Festival and Corvalis Arts Festival.
I'll post definite dates and locations as soon as I get confirmation.

Working, working, working...
It has been an amazing few months, transitioning into my new studio, working HARD, harder than I ever had and it feels so good. One of my favorite parts of Art making is when you are so immersed that you loose track of time...lost in the focus of envisioning & creating.
This has helped me realize the importance of self-care and taking time to relax and rejuevenate, so bubble baths at the end of a long day of hammering on metal is the best treat!
Come see me on March 6th, McMenamins Grand Lodge for the Ungarden Art Sale!
